Asiad: e-sports delivers Malaysia’s second silver

National team lose thrilling showdown to China in Arena of Valor final

KUALA LUMPUR – In a thrilling showdown in the heart of Hangzhou, the Malaysia e-sports team today added another silver medal to bring the nation’s tally to two, cementing their presence on the podium at the Arena of Valor final at the Asian Games.

As the event made its debut for medal contention, the national team faced formidable competition in the form of host-nation China at the Hangzhou ESports Centre and lost 2-0.

The national team comprising Lai Chia Chien, Nicholas Ng, Ong Jun Yang, Eng Jun Hao, Yong Zhan Quan and Chong Han Hui went against opponents comprising Xu Bicheng, Sun Linwei, Luo Siyuan, Lin Heng, Jiang Tao, and Chi Xiaoming.

Malaysia’s path to the final was no less remarkable, as they triumphed over Vietnam in the semi-finals with an impressive 2-0 victory. – September 26, 2023
