SHAH ALAM — Selangor FC is eager to secure the services of their standout winger, Mohamad Faisal Abdul Halim, for the foreseeable future, following his stellar performance since joining the Red Giants this season.

Its chief executive officer Johan Kamal Hamidon confirmed ongoing discussions about extending the contract with Faisal, affectionately known as Mickey.

Describing Mickey as a crucial asset for Selangor, Johan expressed the club’s satisfaction with the player and Mickey’s contentment with Selangor.

“Mickey is an important player for Selangor, and we are keen to keep the excellent player, we are happy with Mickey and similarly he is happy with Selangor.

“So we hope to extend his contract,” he said after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Selangor and Citadel Group of Technologies at Selangor Football Association training centre here today.

The Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who is also FAS president, was present at the ceremony.

Addressing rumours linking the 25-year-old Harimau Malaya squad player to Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) next season, Johan clarified that Mickey is fully committed to helping Selangor achieve the best results this season.

“He is a Selangor player for as long as he wants,” he added.

Mickey, who joined Selangor from Terengganu FC this season, has played a pivotal role in propelling the Malaysia Cup champions to second place in the Super League with three games remaining.

With 11 goals in the Super League campaign and one in the FA Cup, Mickey has been a standout performer.

Notably, he is a key player in the Harimau Malaya squad, coached by Kim Pan Gon, achieving a series of positive results throughout the year.

Earlier, Johan highlighted that the partnership with Citadel Group Technologies goes beyond conventional technology alliances, describing it as a profound step towards redefining their relationship with fans.

“Together, we aim to set new standards for fan engagement in football,” he declared, emphasising the seamless and immersive experiences that fans can expect in the digital age.— November 24, 2023
