KUALA LUMPUR – The future destination of axed Negri Sembilan FC (NSFC) head coach K. Devan remains a mystery as he has yet to provide a definitive response.

The 63-year-old, who joined NSFC in December 2020, departed on mutual terms last week after the club’s management decided not to extend his contract for the upcoming season.

Speaking to Scoop, Devan said that he had already anticipated the club’s decision regarding his contract and wished the best for NSFC in the new season.

“I already knew my fate in the club right before the official announcement. I have no regrets as I have given my best for the club since the day I took over.

“The moment NSFC announced that my contract would not be extended, I had already received approaches from a few clubs, and I had already made a decision on which team I would be joining.

“But I can’t reveal or confirm anything from my side as only the management of my new club can make an official announcement, and that will be happening either this month or early next month.

“I just wish the best for NSFC, and I hope they can achieve more success in the years to come,” added Devan.

In addition to NSFC, Devan boasts a total of 33 years of managerial experience, including coaching teams such as Selangor FC, Melaka United FC, Penang FC, and Kelantan FC.

During his first stint at NSFC from 2003-2006, Devan guided the Ultra Jangs to a Malaysia FA Cup title (2003) and a Malaysia Super League title (2005/2006 season).

In January, NSFC underwent a restructuring as Faliq Firdaus was appointed as the new chief executive officer, replacing Satwant Singh, who had held the position since 2017.

Faliq, who has experience in the field of sports marketing, also served as the treasurer of the Malaysian Sports Industry Management Association from 2014-2016.

He also held positions such as Head of Media & Communications of the National Football Development Program (NFDP) at the National Sports Council from 2017-2019 and was the manager at the Malaysian Grassroots League from 2019-2022.

NSFC concluded their 2023 Super League campaign in ninth position with 27 points.

They were Super League winners in 2006, and in 2021, they secured the Premier League title.

NSFC has lifted the Malaysia Cup three times (1948, 2009, 2011). – February 5, 2024
