KUALA LUMPUR – Johor Motorsports Racing (JMR) and Triple Eight continued their fine momentum as they finished third in the Pro-Am category at the Bathurst 12 Hour endurance race of the 2024 Intercontinental GT Challenge in New South Wales, Australia, on Sunday.
Fresh from being runners-up at the Asian Le Mans Series last week, JMR in a statement said Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ibrahim, together with teammates Jamie Whincup and Jordan Love each drove three efficient stints, consistently maintaining their position at the front end of the Pro-Am pack.
JMR clocked 12 hours and 2 minutes 59.2924 seconds (s) behind The Bend Manthey EMA, who emerged as the champion (12:02.00.9098s), while Heart of Racing by SPS finished second (12:02.30.4313s).
“However, with 20 minutes to go, and Jamie Whincup in the lead, a broken splitter caused him to lose two places, but he held on to third place until the chequered flag,” it said.
In the meantime, Tunku Abdul Rahman was pleased that his team managed to finish the race despite having to perform in the rain.
“It was a very challenging race with the rain and safety car but the team did a great job no matter what the outcome was. We are lucky enough we even finished,” he said. – February 19, 2024
