KUANTAN – The Pahang state government has approved an allocation of RM870,000 to change the carpet at the lawn bowls centre that is located at the Pahang Sports Council as well as upgrading its facilities.

State Communications and Multimedia, Youth, Sports and Non-governmental Organisations Committee chairman Fadzli Mohamad Kamal said the installation of the carpet would start on July 23 and is expected to be completed in three weeks.

He said the allocation from the state government would be channelled through the sports council to ensure the installation of the carpet is carried out according to the correct specifications.

“This is the first time the carpets at the lawn bowls courts centre that was built in 2012 is being replaced.

“The cost of replacing the carpet is high because the carpets are made from special material.

“Once completed, the venue will offer various benefits for users, especially those who love lawn bowls in Pahang,” he told reporters when met yesterday.

Fadzli said such efforts showed that the Pahang state government is always committed to offering the best sporting facilities to athletes and the people, despite facing financial constraints.

“Sports infrastructure needs big investment, therefore I hope the lawn bowl courts would be managed well by the sports council, the Lawn Bowls Association and the players,” he added.

He said in the past, lawn bowl players competing in the Sukma had no choice but to travel to Kuala Lumpur for training because lawn bowl courts here needed to be upgraded. – July 11, 2024
