SHAH ALAM — Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has advised the management of Selangor FC, its fan club, and especially Ultras Selangor, to conduct themselves appropriately and avoid misunderstandings or disputes during matches.
In a letter addressed to the Selangor FC management on October 10, the Sultan expressed his concerns regarding the intensifying competitive spirit in this season’s Super League competition.
A Facebook post from the Selangor Royal Office shared the Sultan’s message, stating that as the patron of the Football Association of Selangor, he hopes for a harmonious atmosphere both on and off the field, free from any misunderstandings or disputes that could lead to conflicts or violence.
“His Royal Highness wishes that every player and fan be wise and rational in controlling their emotions so that they do not be taken up by provocations that could bring about negative outcomes,” the post read.
The Sultan emphasised that winning and losing are inherent parts of competitive football; however, the focus should be on celebrating the successful team and learning from defeats.
He also expressed his desire for football to remain a unifying sport for the community, free from external influences that could disrupt its spirit. — October 21, 2024
