[WATCH] Annil calls for greater FAM support for overseas talents

The national under-23 footballer shares his challenges playing abroad, ambitions to join the senior squad, and insights on his Asian Cup omission on the Scoop podcast.

KUALA LUMPUR – National under-23 footballer Annil Vigneswaran has opened up about the challenges of playing abroad and the lack of scouting efforts by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) for local talents plying their trade overseas.  

Speaking on the Scoop sports podcast, Sport Check, Annil revealed behind-the-scenes details of his unexpected omission from this year’s U-23 Asian Cup squad and shared his personal goals of regaining form to capture the attention of national U-23 head coach Nafuzi Zain. 

He also expressed his ambitions to break into the senior squad under incoming head coach Peter Cklamovski. 

Annil highlighted the difficulties of navigating his career without robust institutional support but remains steadfast in his determination to succeed and inspire a closer look at overseas talents by the FAM.
