KUALA LUMPUR — Three of Malaysia’s elite women bowlers have secured spots in the top 32 of the individual event at the 2025 International Bowling Federation World Cup after dominating their respective group stages in Kowloon, Hong Kong, last night.
Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman, Natasha Roslan, and Sin Li Jane will be joined by Gillian Lim, who also advanced to the top 32 after finishing fifth in her group.
In Group A, Siti Safiyah earned 36 points with 2,783 pinfalls, while Natasha topped Group C with 30 points and 2,800 pinfalls.
Li Jane led Group D with 33 points and 2,723 pinfalls, and Gillian scored 24 points with 2,785 pinfalls in Group B.
“I’ve been nervous over the past two days because it’s my first World Cup,” said Gillian in a video shared with reporters.
“The knockout round starts tomorrow, based on three games, so I’ll give it my best and see how it goes.”
Meanwhile, Siti Safiyah is aiming for a semi-final spot.
“I’ve been in first place for the past two days, which has boosted my confidence in my game plan,” she said.
“My goal is to progress from the top 32 to the top 16, then the top 8, and hopefully make it to the semi-finals.”
Siti Safiyah added, “After the singles event, we have the team event. If I don’t reach my target in the singles, we’ll give our best effort in the team event because it’s very important for Team Malaysia.”
