KUALA LUMPUR – The Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) must review its skills training programmes to better align with industry needs, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He emphasised the importance of ensuring efficient management without wastage while fostering a more dynamic and inclusive work culture for young people.
“During the Joint Meeting with the KBS Management Leadership, we discussed various key issues to improve policies and mechanisms that reflect trends in digitalisation, technology, and global economic shifts,” Anwar said in a Facebook post today.
Earlier, the prime minister attended the Ihya Ramadan Programme, organised by KBS in collaboration with the Performance Acceleration and Coordination Unit (Pacu) of the Prime Minister’s Department and the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim), at Menara KBS, Putrajaya.
Also in attendance were Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, her deputy Adam Adli Abd Halim, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Public Service director-general Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz, and nearly 400 KBS staff.
Anwar shared that stepping into Menara KBS for the first time was an emotional moment for him, as it brought back memories of his tenure as Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports in 1983.
“I still vividly remember how youth officers in the districts worked tirelessly despite facing numerous challenges and limitations,” he said. — March 11, 2025
