KUALA LUMPUR – Kuala Lumpur City FC chief executive Stanley Bernard has been named deputy CEO of Harimau Malaya by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).
His appointment follows a recommendation by the Regent of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, and comes as part of a wider restructure aimed at modernising operations around the national football team.
In his new role, Stanley will work alongside recently appointed CEO Rob Friend to help drive the revamped Harimau Malaya project — a programme focused on professionalising player operations, enhancing commercial opportunities, securing sponsorship, and increasing fan engagement.
FAM president Datuk Joehari Mohd Ayub confirmed the appointment during a Hari Raya open house event today.
“He has been in the football scene for a very long time, and we have seen the achievements he has delivered with Kuala Lumpur over the years. That was one of the key reasons we considered bringing him on board.
“At the same time, Stanley was also recommended by Tuanku based on a series of discussions they had over the past few months. Stanley truly understands Tuanku’s and FAM’s vision for Harimau Malaya.”
Stanley has already begun his duties with immediate effect.
Meanwhile, FAM has also appointed Terengganu FC sporting director Zul Fadli Rozi as the new national team coordinator.
Joehari added that the association is currently considering options for a new team manager. Candidates may be drawn from within FAM or selected from clubs in the Super League.
For now, FAM deputy president Datuk Yusoff Mahadi will continue as interim team manager. — April 23, 2025
