KUALA LUMPUR — Johor’s Low Zi Yu delivered a commanding performance at the Junior Elite Tour (JET) Finals 2025, clinching both the girls’ under-16 singles and doubles titles at the Kelantan Badminton Association Hall in Kota Bharu.

The 15-year-old from Segamat got off to a flying start in the singles final, brushing aside Selangor’s Kiera Wong Yin Xuen 21-5, 21-19 in just 30 minutes.

Zi Yu then doubled her joy in the doubles, partnering Auni Fatihin Azuan for a straight-games win over Putrajaya’s R. Loshini and Leong Hwee Ling, 21-15, 21-13. The match lasted just over half an hour and further underlined the pair’s consistency, having also won round 2 of the JET circuit earlier this season.

In the boys’ under-16 category, Penang’s Lim Zheng Jie emerged victorious in a hard-fought singles final against Perak’s Leong Di Shan. After dropping the first game 12-21, Zheng Jie mounted a comeback to take the next two games 21-19, 21-12 in a match that lasted around an hour.

The boys’ under-16 doubles crown went to Melaka’s Ahmad Qaid Darwisy Ahmad Fuad and Syed Harraz Syed Muzir, who overcame Kelantan’s Khashah Khairul Azlan and Muhammad Hazwan Muhammad Hafiy Najwan 21-17, 21-13 in the final.

The JET Finals marked the culmination of the national junior circuit, aimed at identifying and nurturing Malaysia’s next generation of badminton talent. — June 14, 2025
