KUALA LUMPUR – Langgor FC from Perak emerged as national champions at the Piala Rakan Grab finals, wrapping up a year-long grassroots tournament aimed at uniting Grab’s driver- and delivery-partners through football.
The final showdown, held in conjunction with the Festival Rakan Grab, marked the climax of a community campaign that spanned 11 cities and involved more than 1,200 Grab partners and their families.
Launched in 2024 in collaboration with the Malaysian Football League (MFL), the Piala Rakan Grab saw state champions from Selangor, Johor, Pahang, Kelantan, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Perak, Penang, Sarawak and Sabah flown to Kuala Lumpur to battle it out for national bragging rights.
Beyond the action on the pitch, the event allowed participants to meet their football heroes and deepen bonds forged through the sport – an initiative Grab says is part of its commitment to support its partner community.
Running alongside the finals was Festival Rakan Grab, a day-long carnival featuring interactive booths, showcases by GrabBenefits partners, and various on-ground activities.
Earlier this year, Grab expanded its GrabBenefits programme to five pillars: Insurance, Takaful & Social Protection, Daily Deals, Academy, Gig Financial Solutions, and Community – supported by a RM10 million commitment.
The event also saw the presentation of the Everyday Heroes Awards, recognising partners who went above and beyond in 2024. Honours were handed out for best service, most rides or deliveries, and longest-serving partner.
“Events like Piala Rakan Grab and Festival Rakan Grab are a meaningful way for us to engage with our partners beyond the everyday, promoting unity, teamwork, and shared passion through football,” said Grab Malaysia managing director Adelene Foo.
“It also reinforces our ongoing commitment to support our partners in ways that matter to them and their families.”
Grab said the national finals and surrounding activities reflect its broader goal of supporting and recognising the driver- and delivery-partner community, by fostering meaningful connections and enhancing their wellbeing through sport and community programmes. — July 20, 2025
