KUALA LUMPUR – Hulk Hogan, the legendary WWE wrestler, has passed away at the age of 71 after experiencing a cardiac arrest at his home in Florida.

Known outside the ring as Terry Gene Bollea, Hogan’s death was reported by TMZ, which stated that emergency services were called to his residence on Thursday morning due to the cardiac incident.

He is survived by his wife and two children.

In a statement today, WWE said that it was saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away.

“One of pop culture’s most recognisable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s.

“WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans,” the statement read.

Hogan, who rose to fame in the late 1970s, played a significant role in transforming WWE into a billion-dollar enterprise.

He became a beloved figure for wrestling fans in the 1980s and 1990s, securing the WWE Championship six times and serving as the face of the brand for over twenty years.

He was particularly admired by children, who he affectionately referred to as ‘hulkamaniacs.’

Throughout his career, Hogan participated in many iconic matches against notable opponents such as Andre the Giant, The Warrior, Jake the ‘Snakeman’, The Undertaker, Ric Flair, The Iron Sheik, and Macho Man Randy Savage.

He also won the Royal Rumble twice, in 1990 and 1991.

In a recent appearance at the Intuitive Dome in Inglewood, Los Angeles, Hogan faced a chorus of boos from fans during the premiere of Netflix’s Monday Night Raw, largely due to his outspoken support for US President Donald Trump. – July 25, 2025
