KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s fast-growing pickleball scene is set for another major boost with the launch of the Kingtek International Pickleball Tournament 2025, offering total prizes worth RM100,000 this August in Shah Alam.
The tournament, organised by Vietnamese brand Kingtek in partnership with regional sports tech company Baseline, will be held at the Grand Pickleball Arena (GPA) — a venue chosen for its international-standard facilities.
Open to players aged 18 and above from all countries, the competition will feature men’s, women’s and mixed doubles categories, with participants grouped by skill level for fair and competitive play.
“Malaysia is actually the fastest-growing nation in Asia for pickleball,” said Kingtek founder Truyen, citing the recent World Pickleball Asia Championships held in the country as proof of the sport’s momentum.
“We want to continue the trend by organising our own tournament in the spirit of ‘Sports for Prosperity’,” she said.
The top prize in the open category includes RM5,000 and two K09 premium Kingtek paddles, while champions in the intermediate and novice divisions will receive cash prizes between RM500 and RM3,000, along with K07 or K09 paddles and silver and bronze medals.
Truyen said the tournament also aims to promote cultural exchange, particularly between Vietnam and Malaysia, while expanding the sport to new audiences across Southeast Asia.
Kingtek, which produces paddles, balls, bags, grips and accessories for both men and women, is targeting market leadership in Vietnam by 2030. The brand’s growth strategy includes supporting international tournaments and investing in community outreach and structured training programmes.
Its partner Baseline, known for managing competitive pickleball and tennis events, is providing technical support and tournament management software, as well as connecting international teams to the event.
“This is a long-term strategy. By collaborating with Baseline, we’ve been able to host seamless, professionally run competitions while actively building a platform for pickleball competition in the region,” said Truyen.
Registration for the Kingtek International Pickleball Tournament 2025 closes on August 10.
