KUALA LUMPUR – A crash in the final race at Italy’s Misano Circuit ended Muhammad Hakim Danish Ramli’s bid for runner-up honours in the 2025 Red Bull Rookies Cup (RBRC), but the young Malaysian still carved his name into the record books.

The 18-year-old from Terengganu, who started sixth on the grid, was chasing the leading pack when his bike skidded out at the second corner, forcing him to retire with eight laps to go.

The setback allowed Indonesia’s Veda Pratama to leapfrog him into second place overall with 181 points, while Hakim Danish settled for third on 171. Spain’s Brian Uriarte sealed the championship emphatically with 236 points.

Despite the disappointment, Hakim Danish’s campaign remains historic — he is now the first Malaysian rider to claim a top-three finish in the RBRC.

His steady rise has been evident: from 12th in his 2023 debut season, to sixth last year, and now a podium in the overall standings.

In the day’s race, Spain’s David Gonzalez clinched victory, edging Uriarte by a razor-thin +0.052 seconds, with Argentina’s Marco Morelli completing the podium.

For Hakim Danish, the crash may have denied him second place, but his breakthrough season cements his standing as Malaysia’s brightest prospect on the junior world stage. — September 14, 2025
