KUALA LUMPUR — National cyclist Muhammad Nur Aiman Rosli of Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) ended Malaysia’s five-year wait for a podium finish at the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) after clinching second place in Stage Seven today.
The 26-year-old’s achievement was made more special by the fact that it came on home ground in Johor, where thousands of supporters — including his family — cheered him across the line at Medini after a gruelling 214.9-kilometre ride from Melaka.
Nur Aiman launched a solo breakaway with 32km to go but was reeled in by Great Britain’s Zeb Kyffin 10km from the finish. Kyffin then edged ahead in the final sprint of the last 400 metres, crossing the line two seconds clear of the Malaysian.
“I am proud to take second place because my mother was here today — she rarely comes to watch me race,” said Nur Aiman as quoted by Bernama.
“I really wanted to win in Johor, but number two is still great. Thank you to the people of Johor for their support and to my team, TSG.”
His performance also earned him the Best Asean Rider award for Stage Seven.
The last time a Malaysian cyclist reached the LTdL podium was in 2020, when veteran Mohamed Harrif Salleh won Stages Five and Seven.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Izzat Hilmi Abdul Halil of Malaysia Pro Cycling (MPC) also impressed with a top-10 finish. — October 4, 2025
