KUALA LUMPUR — Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus yesterday made history as the first state top cop to take part in an Ironman Malaysia endurance race.
Kuala Lumpur Police, in a statement, said in the 2025 edition held in Langkawi yesterday, Fadil, 50, led a team of 18 officers and personnel from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), reflecting the team’s strong fighting spirit and physical as well as mental resilience in facing extreme challenges.
“The PDRM contingent also achieved commendable results, finishing second in the relay category, while Corporal Muhammad Luqmanul Hakim Hamidi secured third place in the Ironman 70.3 Langkawi category,” the statement read.
It added that Fadil completed the race in under 17 hours.
Now in its 10th edition, Ironman Malaysia saw participation from 1,500 athletes representing 56 countries.
The race comprised a 3.8-kilometre (km) swim, 180 km cycling, and a 42.2 km marathon run. — November 2, 2025
