KUALA LUMPUR – Debutants from Nepal are set to make their mark as the Royal Selangor Club (RSC) Dato’ Chu Ah Nge International Junior Soccer Tournament 2025 returns for its 19th edition this weekend (Dec 5-7) at the RSC Bukit Kiara Sports Annexe.

Organised by the Junior Soccer Development Programme (JSDP) of the RSC Soccer Section, the tournament is one of the main highlights in the club’s annual calendar, often dubbed a “battle of the ‘creme de la creme’” where rising stars are discovered and future legends forged.

The tournament, inaugurated in 2005, is named after the late Dato’ Chu Ah Nge, a former RSC president who sponsored the Challenge Trophy and provided financial support during its inception.

Chairman of the organising committee, Datuk Gerald Rakish Kumar said that the tournament was designed to provide a competitive environment for all age groups within the RSC Soccer Development Programme, which has since grown rapidly.

“This tournament gradually attracted the attention of many regional clubs and hence it necessitated us to invite them to participate to justify the tournament’s international tag,” he added.

This year, 100 teams from Singapore, the Maldives, Indonesia, Nepal and Malaysia will compete across five age categories – Under-8, Under-10, Under-12, Under-14, and Under-16. Teams will earn points in their respective categories, with the highest cumulative score winning the coveted Dato’ Chu Ah Nge Challenge Trophy. Each match will have a playing time of 18 minutes.

The tournament also aims to foster fellowship through friendly competition among clubs and academies that focus on grassroots development.

“As an additional incentive for teams to play to the best of their abilities, all age group winners in the Cup category of the tournament will be given free entry to the JSSL Singapore Professional Academy 7s tournament, which will be held on April 2-5, 2026 in Singapore,” Gerald said.

Present at the press conference were former Malaysian internationals Datuk Dollah Salleh who also Vice-President of the Football Association of Malaysia, Datuk Santokh Singh, K. Gunalan, A. Jayakanthan, Fareex Prem, Reman Ragunthan.

The tournament’s sponsors include Southern Score Builders Berhad, the GPL Group, Damansara Specialist Hospital, Triterra Sdn Bhd, Etika Holdings Sdn Bhd, Huls Engineering Sdn Bhd, Landmarks Films Sdn Bhd, Asia Film Equipment Sdn Bhd, GS Gill Sdn Bhd, Maha Partners & Co, Truvea Technics Engineering Sdn Bhd, and SK Gas Sdn Bhd. – December 3, 2025
