KUALA LUMPUR — Stadium Titiwangsa has been officially designated as the “Home of Sepak Takraw” by the Federal Territories Department (JWP) and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), following the national team’s success as champions last year.

The national squad clinched the title at the Sepak Takraw Asian Cup in May 2025, held at Stadium Titiwangsa, and went on to secure two gold medals at the SEA Games in Bangkok, Thailand.

“These achievements prove that sepak takraw is not merely a traditional sport, but a world-class competitive sport that requires continuous support, strategic planning and quality facilities,” said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Hannah Yeoh in a statement today.

She added that the stadium will also serve as the training centre for the Federal Territories sepak takraw team in preparation for the SUKMA Games scheduled to take place in Selangor in August 2026.

“DBKL will ensure that all sepak takraw facilities at Stadium Titiwangsa are fully equipped and optimally utilised for training and the organisation of tournaments,” she said.

The list of upgrades that have been completed and are planned for the stadium, costing a total of RM80,000, includes:

Mural artwork on the walls and “Home of Sepak Takraw” identity branding;
Repainting the front section of the building;
Replacing the scoreboard with an LED display;
VIP space and VIP box on Level 1;
Surau (prayer room), media room, storage room, and male and female restrooms;
Sepak takraw equipment and facilities;
Changing rooms and meeting rooms.

“In addition, the Malaysian Sepak Takraw Federation will intensify its sepak takraw clinics for Malaysians of all levels, regardless of race.

“These clinics will also involve Chinese and Tamil national-type schools (SJKC and SJKT), as previously conducted,” said Hannah. – February 23, 2026.
