KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysian sprint star Muhammad Azeem Mohd Fahmi showcased his post-Ramadan hunger for victory, seizing gold in the 4x100m relay and silver in the 100m at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Atlanta, United States, today.
Azeem, the national 100m record holder, played a key role in driving Auburn University athletics to relay triumph, combining with Alejandro Cardenas, Ian Myers and Tyler Davis to clock 39.75 seconds for first place.
The runners-up, Lipscomb University athletics—comprising Emery Eckert, Joel Nimoh, Wessel Vandernest and Justin Davis—finished in 41.93s.
No third-place finisher was recorded, as the remaining teams either failed to finish (DNF) or did not start (DNS).
Earlier, Azeem narrowly missed out on the 100m crown, finishing second in 10.33s behind American sprinter Cameron Crump (10.20s), with Zimbabwe’s Makanakaishe Charamba in third at 10.34s.
