KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysians are encouraged to download the RTM Klik application to ensure they can watch the FIFA World Cup 2026 matches free of charge.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the tournament will be broadcast in Malaysia by Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) and Unifi TV, which have been appointed as the official broadcasters.

“This is the first time in 20 years that we are able to provide free World Cup coverage for all Malaysians,” he told reporters after attending the Communications Ministry’s monthly assembly today.

He added that viewers can watch the matches via RTM Klik, MyTV, or RTM’s other platforms to ensure they do not miss any action.

Also present were Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching, Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah, and Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) editor-in-chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj.

Fahmi also urged RTM and Unifi TV to review their broadcast arrangements to ensure there are no unnecessary restrictions that could affect the viewing experience.

“I have asked this to be looked into so that Malaysians can enjoy the live broadcasts without unreasonable limitations,” he said.

He added that several promotional and engagement programmes will be rolled out ahead of the tournament, which is widely regarded as the world’s biggest and most prestigious single-sport event.

Last week, Fahmi announced that the FIFA World Cup 2026, scheduled from June 11 to July 19, will be available across multiple platforms, including free-to-air broadcasts via MyTV, as well as streaming through RTM Klik and Unifi TV.

All 104 matches will be shown live on Unifi TV, while RTM will broadcast most fixtures either live or on delayed telecast.

The tournament will be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada, with the opening match set to take place in Mexico City on June 11 and the final scheduled in New Jersey on July 19. – May 12, 2026
