KUALA LUMPUR – Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) have fuelled speculation over a potential marquee signing after strong indications emerged that Malaysia-American midfielder Wan Kuzain Wan Ahmad Kamal could be on the verge of joining the Jangs for the upcoming season.

The speculation intensified after NSFC chief executive officer Faliq Firdaus shared an old photograph of himself with Wan Kuzain on social media, accompanied by a brief but intriguing caption.

“I was looking back through my photo gallery from 2017. Wow.”

While the post stopped short of confirming anything, a source familiar with the discussions told Scoop that talks between the club and the player have already taken place, with a deal now a genuine possibility.

“There have been discussions between both parties and the possibility of Wan Kuzain joining NSFC is very real.

“Nothing has been finalised yet, but negotiations have progressed positively. If everything goes according to plan, he could join the club soon,” the source said.

Neither NSFC nor the 28-year-old midfielder has commented publicly on the reported move.

If completed, the signing would provide a major boost for Negeri Sembilan as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the new campaign.

Currently based in the United States, Wan Kuzain is widely regarded as a technically gifted midfielder capable of adding composure, creativity and valuable overseas experience in the centre of the park.

The former Sporting Kansas City player has also been linked with the national team, with Harimau Malaya head coach Tan Cheng Hoe believed to be monitoring him ahead of the 2026 Hyundai Asean Cup.

Many Malaysian football fans have long hoped to see Wan Kuzain don the national colours, believing his overseas experience could enhance Malaysia’s midfield options.

For now, however, supporters will have to wait and see whether Faliq’s nostalgic social media post was merely a stroll down memory lane or a subtle teaser of a significant signing. – July 13, 2026
