KUALA LUMPUR – The Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) has granted conditional approval for HYROX Kuala Lumpur 2026, allowing the international fitness competition to proceed from Dec 10 to 13, subject to regulatory requirements.

Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari said the approval was issued under Section 33 of the Sports Development Act 1997, with organisers required to comply fully with the Safe Sport Code and conditions set by the Office of the Sports Commissioner, Bernama reported.

“The organisers of HYROX Kuala Lumpur 2026 have agreed to observe all the requirements under Clause 5.2 of the Safe Sport Code.

“The ministry will oversee compliance with the stipulated conditions throughout the event and wishes all participants the best of luck,” he said in a statement today.

Mohammed Taufiq added that mass participation fitness events should continue to be encouraged as part of efforts to promote healthier and more active lifestyles among Malaysians.

The ministry had previously warned that approval would not be granted unless all sponsorship involving alcoholic beverage companies was withdrawn.

The issue attracted attention after a screenshot circulated widely on social media identifying an alcoholic beverage company as the event’s “Official Beer Partner”.

HYROX Kuala Lumpur 2026 is scheduled to take place at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). – November 6, 2026
