The home and human resources ministries have been asked to allow the recruitment of migrant workers for the construction industry be managed entirely by Construction Labour Exchange Centre Bhd (CLAB).
A majority of projects bringing in a considerable amount of investments to Malaysia’s construction sector are being managed by local contractors, according to Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
Local construction players have attributed the skyrocketing prices of raw materials to the global economic crisis, adversely affecting the industry in Malaysia.
