The Agriculture and Food Security Ministry will take serious action against any party that fails to comply with the price set for padi seeds at RM45 per 20kg sack, said its minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.
Farmers in the country have welcomed the government initiative to implement a new maximum control price adjustment for the Certified Padi Seed Incentive (IBPS) programme in Peninsular Malaysia, which came into effect yesterday.
The government today raised the floor price for padi and also streamlined prices for padi seeds, in response to farmers’ complaints about difficulties in obtaining seed supply.
