Immigration officers are not allowed to reject applications based solely on the applicant's proficiency in the national language, according to Immigration director-general Datuk Ruslin Jusoh.
Its president Zaid Malek said it is unlawful and high-handed for the Home Ministry to impose such a condition, adding that it could create alarm amongst the public.
