Government politicians receiving multiple pensions have a moral responsibility to only opt for one pension scheme, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Datuk Suhaimi Nasir said that Umno Youth had previously proposed abolishing the pension scheme, and the idea has been well-received by various parties, including himself.
Fahmi Fadzil said that thus far, there has been no specific announcement regarding the new remuneration scheme, other than a circular issued by the Public Service Department , dated January 15, which stated that the government has decided that a new method for the permanent appointment of civil servants should be introduced, to strengthen the public service remuneration system.
Existing public servants who have chosen the pension scheme will not be affected by the finalised public service remuneration system, says Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.
