The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has opened an investigation into a “senior aide” – who has a “Datuk” title – of a former prime minister.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has confirmed that it had recorded a statement from former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to assist in a probe into the use of RM700 million in funds spent on publicity and promotion during the previous administrations.
Former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob gave his statement to the MACC this morning regarding investigations into projects awarded to certain individuals, including the implementation of two programmes under his previous administration.
MACC’s senior director of investigations Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim told Scoop this when asked when the agency will summon the two former prime ministers and senior officials allegedly involved in the expenditure.
Addressing a press conference, here, today, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said he has no qualms with the anti-graft agency potentially including his ministry in its investigations into funds used to promote the two federal governments between 2020 and 2022.
