Five areas in peninsula record unhealthy API as of 10am

Klang tops list at 155, followed by Seri Manjung (114), Tangkak (120), PJ (137), Johan Setia (121)

KUALA LUMPUR – Five areas in the peninsula recorded unhealthy air pollutant index (API) readings as of 10am today, with Klang recording the highest reading of 155.

According to the Environment Department’s Air Pollutant Index Management System website, other areas with API of above 100 are Seri Manjung, Perak (114), Tangkak, Johor (120), and in Selangor Petaling Jaya (137) and Johan Setia (121).

A total of 52 areas recorded moderate API levels, while 11 other areas had good readings. 

An API reading of zero to 50 indicates the air quality is good, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, and above 300 is hazardous. 

The API data is released every hour, based on the readings at 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide. – October 18, 2023
