PUCHONG – Iron piles will be installed today to control soil movement following yesterday’s landslide at Jalan Wawasan, Puchong.
In a statement, today, Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) said the move was a temporary measure being taken to control any soil movement.
Subang Jaya Mayor Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim had also ordered for both short-term and long-term measures to be implemented, starting with covering the landslide area with canvas.
He also requested that the embankment be strengthened with sheet piles along the 150-m stretch.
“In addition, investigations and land studies are to be carried out immediately to determine the design for the reconstruction of the embankment,” said MBSJ in a Facebook post, today.
Mayor Fauzi, Serdang district police chief A. Anbalagan along with MBSJ’s engineering department deputy director Mohd Ariffuddin Kamari had surveyed the landslide area.
During the 7.26pm incident, yesterday, seven houses had to be evacuated after a landslide occurred in front of a house.
The incident, which saw four vehicles damaged, did not result in any injuries or deaths.
In the meantime, MBSJ stated the temporary evacuation centre at the council’s multipurpose hall in Laman Puteri 3 has been opened since the day of the incident to house the eight affected families. – December 17, 2023
