KUALA LUMPUR – At RM1.5 million, King of Malaysia Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has made the highest bid in the country’s history for a vehicle registration plate.

The special plate, “GOLD 1”, was handed to the king by Transport Minister Anthony Loke today at Istana Negara, according to a post on Sultan Ibrahim’s official Instagram account. 

“His Majesty granted an audience to the Transport Minister at Istana Negara today, and the minister symbolically handed the number plate to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong,” the post said. 

Sultan Ibrahim of Johor ascended the throne as Malaysia’s 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on January 31. – February 20, 2024
