KOTA BHARU – The Kelantan government has expressed its support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s call for a global consensus to expel Israel from the United Nations (UN).
Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohamed Fadzli Hassan said the move was seen as appropriate in opposing Israeli atrocities against the people of Palestine.
“We support any action against Israel’s atrocities on Palestine, including the proposal made by the Prime Minister to expel Israel from the UN.
“The state government conveyed the same stance to the United States (US) Ambassador to Malaysia, Edgard D. Kagan, during a meeting yesterday,” he told reporters after the state executive council meeting at the Kota Darul Naim Complex here today.
He said that among the topics discussed in the meeting was the call from Malaysians, particularly the people in Kelantan, for an end to Israeli atrocities.
“Yesterday, I received a courtesy call from Edgard at the Kota Darulnaim Complex, where we reiterated that the people of Kelantan stand with Palestine.
“The state government also expressed the view that Malaysians, particularly in Kelantan, have always seen the US as siding with Israel,” he said.
When delivering the national statement at the Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, two days ago, Anwar called on the world community to build a consensus on suspending or expelling Israel from the UN.
The Prime Minister reiterated that reiterated that Israel has gone beyond reason and humanity itself in its vile and blatant perpetration of the genocide of the people of Palestine.
Anwar said Israel no longer belongs within the civilised community of nations, and its barbarism demands nothing less than decisive action to safeguard not just the Middle East, but the entire global order. – November 13, 2024
