KUALA LUMPUR — A petrol station in Putra Heights is ablaze as fire department personnel, including a helicopter, are said to be on the way.

Shocked residents in the area began posting videos of the huge blaze on social media just before 9am today.

The fire burned as a massive column of flames upward, with some netizens reporting the sound of explosions.

Selangor government owned media, Media Selangor, said the state Fire and Rescue Department confirmed that the blaze started from a gas pipe at Jalan Putra Harmoni, Putra Heights, in Subang Jaya.

The Selangor department’s operations division assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said they received an emergency call at 8.23 am today and fire-righting operations are currently underway

Police have cordoned off roads and sidewalks closer to the site, Bernama reported.

Earlier, Subang MP Wong Chen in a Facebook post said the location of the fire is a petrol station in Putra Heights.

He said the petrol station was located near the Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong (LDP) highway in the direction of Putra Heights.

(Although it) is outside Parliament Subang (it) is our immediate neighbouring constituency.

“All citizens are advised to be on full alert. We will provide more Bomba updates when received.

“(A) Bomba helicopter is also on the way,” Wong said.

The fire was still raging as at 9.37 am, about an hour after it was first reported, according to Bernama citing the livestream of a TikTok user, Perodua PuchongJayaJeffrey.

The TikTok user said loud explosions can be heard, following by a surge in flames. He said he could feel the heat of the fire despite being far away from the site.

He also said fire department personnel are currently on the scene to extinguish the blaze. – April 1, 2025
