‘I could leave, but JDT will stay unstoppable,’ declares Bidoglio after treble triumph

Argentine coach hints at uncertain future after guiding Southern Tigers to historic third consecutive treble

KUALA LUMPUR – Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) “will remain unstoppable” even if he departs, says head coach Héctor Bidoglio, after leading the club to a historic third consecutive domestic treble.

The Argentine made the remarks following JDT’s 2-1 victory over Sri Pahang FC in the Malaysia Cup final at Bukit Jalil National Stadium last night.

Having already secured the Super League and FA Cup titles this season, JDT were forced to come from behind after falling a goal down, with strikes from Bergson Da Silva and Arif Aiman Hanapi sealing the comeback.

Speaking at a post-match press conference, Bidoglio — who took charge in December 2023 — hinted at an uncertain future, suggesting he may not stay on for the next M-League season.

“The club achieved success long before I arrived, thanks to the brilliant planning of Tunku Ismail,” he said, referring to the Regent of Johor and JDT owner.

“Whether I remain next season, I am not sure. But JDT will continue to be unstoppable because the foundations have already been laid.

“We have the best of everything — a fantastic group of players and staff — and the future will only get brighter. I’m proud to have played a part in this success and would love to continue for as long as I can.”

Bidoglio also praised his players’ hunger and mentality after lifting their third consecutive Malaysia Cup title.

Asked about refereeing decisions during the final, Bidoglio brushed off controversy.

“In every final, I tell the players not to analyse. We just need to win — with personality, character and technique.

“Today, JDT were champions, and it was really amazing.”

The Argentine admitted it had been a tough end to a gruelling campaign.

“We knew it would be difficult. After 15–16 months of hard work, the last game is always the hardest.

“Our players have competed in the M-League, Asian Champions League, national team fixtures and international friendlies. It has been a long season — but an excellent and amazing one.” – April 27, 2025
