KUALA LUMPUR – U Mobile has partnered with Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd to roll out the Enterprise Innovation Platform (EIP), a 5G-Advanced and AI sandbox that will support enterprise use cases and nurture start-up growth.

The platform will function as a sandbox for developing and testing enterprise use cases, enabling businesses to pilot projects and proof-of-concept initiatives using Huawei’s global expertise in 5G-to-Business, 5G-to-Consumer and 5G-to-Home applications.

Both parties will also explore AI- and machine learning-based monetisation strategies to enhance customer experience.

Beyond technology trials, the EIP will foster an innovation ecosystem by sharing industry knowledge, supporting start-ups through funding and incubation, and hosting outreach programmes such as demonstrations, seminars, exhibitions and digital campaigns.

“U Mobile is pleased to collaborate with Huawei Malaysia as one of our strategic technology partners to establish our EIP, which will enable the development of localised 5G solutions, pilot projects and proofs of concept, while supporting smart monetisation and ecosystem growth,” said U Mobile chief technology officer Woon Ooi Yuen.

Huawei Malaysia’s deputy chief executive officer for carrier business, Zac Chow, said the partnership builds on the company’s leadership in 5G-Advanced and AI integration.

“We are also one of the leaders in research and development worldwide and we look forward to leveraging these and our ecosystem of partners to support innovation in Malaysia,” he said.

The MoU was signed at the GSMA Digital Nation Summit Kuala Lumpur (ASEAN Edition), witnessed by Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din, Mano Verabathran, Deputy Secretary General, Ministry of Communications; Kenneth Chang, Deputy CEO of U Mobile; and Simon Sun, CEO of Huawei Malaysia. – September 26, 2025
