KUALA LUMPUR – Police have confirmed the arrest of four teenage boys, aged between 15 and 17, in connection with the alleged gang rape of a schoolgirl and the circulation of obscene material in Baling, Kedah.

According to Baling district acting police chief Ahmad Salimi Md Ali, three of the suspects are currently enrolled at the school, while the fourth is a former student of the same institution.

The arrests were made following a police report lodged by a 53-year-old woman, who was alerted by the school’s discipline teacher at around 11am last Sunday to a viral video depicting her 15-year-old daughter in the nude.

“Following the tip-off, a police report was received from the complainant at 8.11pm the same day, before arrests were made,” Ahmad Salimi said, as quoted by Berita Harian.

The case is being investigated under Section 375 of the Penal Code for gang rape, as well as provisions related to the distribution of child pornography.

Earlier reports said that the four teenagers were detained at approximately 9.30pm on Sunday for allegedly engaging in sexual acts, including group sex, between May and August this year. The incidents are believed to have occurred at multiple locations within the school compound.

All four suspects have been remanded for five days. Police have also seized six mobile phones to assist with the investigation.

Ahmad Salimi emphasised that the police take the matter seriously and urged parents and guardians to monitor their children’s online and social interactions closely. – October 16, 2025
