Tun Faisal accuses Wan Fayhsal, Wan Saiful of pushing personal agenda

Bersatu info chief says the duo misused PAS’s name to advance self-interest, contradicting the Islamist party’s stance on Perikatan Nasional’s prime ministerial candidate

KUALA LUMPUR — Bersatu information chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz has criticised suspended party member Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal and expelled MP Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan for allegedly using PAS’s name to advance their personal political agendas, describing their remarks as misleading and divisive.

“It’s strange for both of them to speak on behalf of PAS when they are not its spokespersons,” Tun Faisal said in a Facebook post today, calling their claims “even more peculiar” as they contradicted the Islamist party’s official position on who should be Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) prime ministerial candidate.

He was referring to comments made by Wan Fayhsal and Wan Saiful during a recent PodaBoom’s Trick Lama podcast episode, in which they questioned Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s suitability to return as prime minister, claiming that PAS also shared such reservations.

Wan Fayhsal had suggested that PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang’s past remarks—prioritising leaders under 70 and free of court cases—were veiled messages against Muhyiddin.

However, PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan has denied reports claiming that party leaders had met Bersatu to discuss nominating opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin as PN’s prime ministerial candidate, though he confirmed routine discussions between PAS, Bersatu, Gerakan and MIPP on current political matters.

Tun Faisal said the comments by the two MPs had angered PAS members who preferred a prime ministerial candidate from within their own ranks, including leaders like deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man or Terengganu chief minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.

“The statements made by these two could also cause Bersatu members to misinterpret PAS’s intentions,” he warned, questioning whether Wan Saiful and Wan Fayhsal were “Trojan horses” sent to sow discord within PN.

He added that Bersatu’s nomination of Muhyiddin as the party’s choice for Malaysia’s 11th prime minister was made responsibly, based on merit, leadership experience, and the party’s internal data.

“Most importantly, the decision wasn’t made at a coffee shop—but at the party’s highest platform, the 2025 General Assembly,” Tun Faisal said.

He stressed that the decision reflected the party’s commitment to constitutional order, rational leadership, and national stability. — October 25, 2025
