Shamsul Iskandar, Albert Tei to face graft charges tomorrow: MACC

Former political secretary and businessman set to appear in Kuala Lumpur and Shah Alam courts following MACC investigation

KUALA LUMPUR – Former political secretary to the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, and businessman Albert Tei are set to face corruption charges at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court tomorrow.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki, confirmed that both Shamsul Iskandar and Tei will each face four charges, local media reported.

Azam also revealed that the duo would face a further charge at the Shah Alam Sessions Court this Friday, with each being charged with one additional count.

The MACC has completed its investigation into the case involving Shamsul Iskandar and Tei.

Shamsul was detained by the MACC to assist in the investigation into alleged bribery involving businessman Tei, who claims to have given Shamsul money to recover funds allegedly distributed to Sabah assemblymen.

Shamsul resigned as Anwar’s senior political secretary on November 25. – December 3, 2025
