KUALA LUMPUR – The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, has announced that his son, Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah, will marry Afzaa Fadini Abdul Aziz in October.
According to a statement from the Selangor Royal Office, the solemnisation ceremony will be held on October 2 at the Royal Mosque of Istana Alam Shah in Klang.
The royal wedding reception and banquet are scheduled for October 22 at the palace’s Balairung Seri and Royal Banquet Hall.
Ahead of the wedding, a statewide Yasin recitation and prayer gathering will be held on September 25 in mosques across Selangor, organised by the state’s Islamic Religious Department (JAIS). The prayers are meant to seek blessings for the smooth running of the ceremonies.
Sultan Sharafuddin and Tengku Amir Shah are also expected to attend a doa selamat ceremony at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, Selangor’s state mosque in Shah Alam.
Tengku Amir Shah, 34, is the youngest child and only son of Sultan Sharafuddin. Born on December 12, 1990, in San Francisco, he was proclaimed Raja Muda of Selangor on May 3, 2002, at the age of 11, and was formally installed in October 2016.
His bride-to-be, Afzaa, is a sustainability and urban forestry practitioner. She serves as a project manager at the Tropical Rainforest Conservation and Research Centre (TRCRC), a non-profit dedicated to protecting rare and endangered tropical tree species.
A graduate of King’s College London in Sustainable Cities, Afzaa has been involved in conservation and forest restoration initiatives across Malaysia.
Beyond his royal duties, Tengku Amir has been active in youth and community development.
He has spearheaded initiatives under the Selangor Youth Community (SAY), a platform that engages young people through programmes in sports, entrepreneurship, arts and volunteerism. — September 22, 2025
