OCM welcomes Taufiq and Mordi, pledges strong partnership for national sports development

The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) has expressed its support for the newly appointed Youth and Sports Minister, Mohammed Taufiq Johari, and deputy minister Mordi Bimol, following today’s Cabinet reshuffle, while extending gratitude to outgoing leaders for their service

KUALA LUMPUR — The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) has warmly welcomed the appointment of Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari as the new Minister of Youth and Sports, and Mordi Bimol as deputy minister, following the Cabinet reshuffle announced today, by Prime Minister Datuk’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

In a statement, OCM president Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria said the council looks forward to a strong and collaborative partnership with the new ministerial leadership to strengthen the national sports ecosystem.

“This partnership will be instrumental in advancing high-performance sport, athlete development, good governance, and in sustaining Malaysia’s success and presence on the international sporting stage.

“On behalf of the OCM and all its affiliated National Sports Associations, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Taufiq Johari and Mordi Bimol.

“We look forward to working closely with both leaders to drive the national sports agenda forward, strengthen athlete pathways, and further enhance the Olympic Movement in Malaysia,” he added.

At the same time, the OCM thanked Hannah Yeoh and deputy minister Adam Adli for their dedicated service since 2022.

Norza highlighted Hannah’s support for the Olympic House project as an important milestone for Malaysian sports.

“We remain truly grateful to Hannah and Adam for their commitment and the close collaborative working relationship they have maintained with the OCM,” he said.

Norza wished both leaders success in their future endeavours and reaffirmed its commitment to work closely with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to ensure Malaysian sport continues to thrive under this new chapter of leadership, in alignment with Olympic Values and national aspirations. – December 16, 2025
