KUALA LUMPUR – Maxim Malaysia has officially become a fully authorised e‑hailing operator after receiving its full operating licence from the Land Public Transport Agency (Apad), marking a decisive step in strengthening its safety and compliance framework.
The approval, granted after the company completed a mandatory monitoring period last November and met all regulatory requirements, cements Maxim’s position in Malaysia’s transport ecosystem.
Mushfique Ahmed Chowdhury, Legal Compliance and Government Relations representative, said the licence underscores both trust and responsibility:
“We have demonstrated that we are a necessary and competitive player in Malaysia’s e‑hailing landscape, helping improve mobility across all states. As we move into 2026, our focus remains on enhancing safety, preserving flexibility for our driver‑partners and expanding access to reliable mobility for communities across Malaysia.”
With full authorisation, Maxim Malaysia has rolled out tangible improvements for drivers and passengers alike—streamlined onboarding, direct financial support for licensing, and greater flexibility in work arrangements. Every trip is now conducted by fully licensed and verified drivers, reinforcing confidence in safety and legitimacy.
Safety features have also been embedded into daily operations, including an upgraded SOS function for instant trip‑sharing with emergency contacts, and the Women’s Rate option, which pairs female passengers with women drivers for added comfort and security.
To accelerate driver legalisation, Maxim covers the cost of Public Service Vehicle (PSV) licensing and partners with more than 25 driving schools nationwide. Inclusivity remains central, with initiatives such as the Mesra OKU feature offering voice‑assisted booking for users with disabilities.
The company has also renewed its support for the blind community, signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Malaysian Association for the Blind in November 2025 to tackle mobility barriers through direct assistance.
From a regulatory standpoint, Maxim backs the Gig Workers Bill 2025, stressing the importance of preserving flexibility in platform‑based work while safeguarding drivers’ status as partners.
Looking ahead, Maxim’s 2026 strategy aims to expand safe, reliable mobility nationwide while evolving into a broader daily services ecosystem, particularly through delivery services.
“This includes expanding access in underserved areas, creating additional earning opportunities for driver‑partners, and strengthening corporate social responsibility initiatives to deliver sustainable value to the communities it serves.
It aims to enhance its technological features and work closely with authorities and communities to support a modern and inclusive transportation ecosystem,” the company said. – January 13, 2026
