BANTING – A teenage girl accused of stabbing a fellow student at a secondary school in Banting was brought to the Telok Datok Magistrate’s Court this morning to face charges.
The 16-year-old arrived at the court compound at 8.32 am under tight police escort, following a four-day remand beginning July 7. The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
Earlier, members of the media who gathered outside the court were denied entry as the case involves a juvenile accused.
Reports yesterday suggested resentment harboured against a schoolmate was the motive behind the stabbing of a Form Three female student at a Banting secondary school on Monday.
Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar, however, clarified that preliminary investigations — including statements from several individuals and 10 students whose names appeared in a note circulated on social media — found the incident was not linked to bullying.
“Based on the statements recorded, the case does not involve elements of bullying,” he said.
The Selangor Education Department earlier confirmed the suspect had been arrested, while the injured student was treated at Banting Hospital. – July 10, 2026
