Bangladeshi cashier in Kedah arrested for abusing Selangor trader’s BUDI95 subsidy

Police traced several purchases of RON95 petrol using the complainant’s MyKad number at a petrol station in Baling.

SIK — Police arrested a Bangladeshi petrol station cashier in Kupang, Baling yesterday to facilitate investigations into a case of missing Budi MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) subsidy quota.

Baling district police chief Supt Brandon Richard Joe said the arrest follows a police report by a trader, 57, from Selangor claiming that his BUDI95 subsidy quota had gone missing.

“The complainant claimed to have realised the matter when he was at a petrol station in Setia Alam, Shah Alam at about 4.48 pm, April 8 and checked his BUDI95 app.

“The check revealed transactions of RON95 subsidised petrol being filled up using his identification card number at a petrol station in Padang Lengkuas, Kupang, Baling,” he said.

Further investigations revealed there were six transactions of RON95 subsidised petrol using the complainant’s identification card number involving 309.038 litres of petrol with an estimated value of RM1,242.33 from March 18 to April 8.

Brandon said that the Bangladeshi, 34, has been remanded for four days from today for further investigation, adding that the police were still looking for locals involved in the case, which is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for fraud. – May 11, 2026
