Heberty bids emotional farewell to JDT after three trophy-laden seasons

KUALA LUMPUR – Veteran striker Heberty Fernandes has announced his departure from Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), bringing an end to a highly successful three-year spell with the Malaysian football powerhouse.

The 37-year-old Brazilian confirmed his exit through a post on Instagram, closing the curtain on another memorable chapter in his distinguished career with the Southern Tigers.

Reflecting on his time at the club, Heberty said his three seasons with JDT were about far more than trophies and victories, describing the experience as one filled with valuable lessons, challenges and unforgettable moments.

The former Cerezo Osaka and Bangkok United forward expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to represent the club, saying the memories and relationships he built in Johor would remain with him long after his departure.

“After three unforgettable years, the time has come for me to say goodbye to this very special club.

“It has been a journey filled with learning experiences, challenges, achievements and success that will always be part of my life story.

“More than the victories on the pitch, I will always cherish the friendships, respect and memories that I have gained throughout this journey,” he said in his Instagram post.

Heberty also paid special tribute to the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sultan Ibrahim for the trust and support shown to him during his time with the club.

“My special thanks go to Tunku Ismail for his support, trust, kindness and for all the moments we shared together.

“It has truly been an honour to represent this club and wear this jersey,” he said.

The Brazilian added that he leaves JDT with immense pride and satisfaction, confident that he had given everything he could for the club during his tenure.

“I leave with a heart full of gratitude and the belief that I always gave my very best in every moment I spent here,” he said.

During his time with JDT, Heberty enjoyed remarkable success, helping the club secure multiple domestic honours, including the Super League, FA Cup, Malaysia Cup and Charity Shield, further enhancing his impressive collection of silverware with the Southern Tigers. – June 3, 2026
