KUALA LUMPUR – Parti Wawasan Negara has announced its intention to contest the upcoming Negeri Sembilan State Election, positioning the move as part of its efforts to offer people-focused leadership and expand its presence in Malaysia’s political landscape.

The decision was made during the party’s Central Committee meeting chaired by its president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.

In a statement today, party secretary-general Datuk Seri Saiffuddin Abdullah said Negeri Sembilan was in need of a “major wave of change”, adding that Wawasan Negara was ready to provide leadership founded on integrity and credibility.

“Parti Wawasan Negara is committed to offering people-focused leadership that is truly driven by integrity and credibility through its participation in the Negeri Sembilan State Election (PRN),” he said.

The party said its participation would be anchored on the RESET Agenda and the New National Consensus (Gagasan Konsensus Nasional Baharu), which it described as key pillars in developing a more mature, progressive and renewed political environment.

“Wawasan Negara’s participation in the Negeri Sembilan state election reflects the party’s readiness to expand its services and strengthen its role in shaping a more mature, progressive and fresh political landscape for the people,” he added.

The party said it also aimed to serve as a platform that unites Malaysians while contributing towards a more stable, integrity-driven and prosperous nation.

Meanwhile, Wawasan Negara announced the appointment of former Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) director-general Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali as a member of its Central Committee.

The party said Hazani’s background in security and public administration would strengthen its leadership capacity.

“The extensive experience in security and public administration is expected to strengthen and bring added value to the party,” it said.

The Central Committee also endorsed the appointment of state coordinators as part of efforts to enhance the party’s election preparations and improve coordination with Perikatan Nasional (PN).

Among the key appointments, former Melaka chief minister Tan Sri Rahim Tamby Chik has been named the party’s state coordinator for Melaka, while Senator Azahar Hassan will oversee coordination efforts in Perlis.

For Negeri Sembilan, Wawasan Negara appointed YBhg Tuan Badrul Hisham Shahrin as state coordinator.

Other appointments include Abdul Razak Khamis for Kedah, Datuk Mohamed Farid Mohamed Zawawi for Kelantan and Datuk Suhaimi Mohd Ghazali for Selangor.

The party said the new leadership structure demonstrated its commitment to building a more organised and dynamic political machinery ahead of future electoral contests. – July 10, 2026
