KUALA LUMPUR – Police will send officers to Kedah to record a statement from Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor over remarks allegedly touching on racial issues during a political rally in Jempol recently.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail said investigations into the matter involving the PAS leader were still ongoing, with authorities seeking his statement to assist in completing the investigation, local media reported.
“Actually, this matter is still under investigation. We are trying to obtain the statement from the menteri besar himself. So he is in Kedah.
“Our side is arranging all the necessary arrangements to send officers to obtain his statement,” he said during a press conference after inspecting a polling centre at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan King George V here today.
Mohd Khalid also called on all parties to refrain from speculation, stressing that further investigations and supporting evidence from relevant parties were needed before the investigation papers could be submitted to the Attorney General’s Chambers.
“I do not want any party to make any speculation because it requires further investigation, evidence from certain parties so that we can prepare a complete investigation paper, then submit it to the Attorney General,” he said.
Earlier, Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad was reported to have confirmed that police had received a report concerning a speech delivered by the Jeneri assemblyman.
Alzafny said police had recorded statements from several witnesses and sought assistance from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) as part of the investigation into the PAS leader.
The controversy followed Muhammad Sanusi’s remarks during the political rally, where he said: “The Malays no longer have land. The Malays only have this Tanah Melayu. Indians have India, Chinese have China, Cambodians have Cambodia, Siamese have Thailand.” – August 1, 2026
