Five more immigration officers nabbed in growing MyIMMs hack probe: MACC

The latest arrests bring the total number of individuals questioned to 17, as anti-graft officers dig deeper into an illegal pass syndicate

KUALA LUMPUR – Five more immigration officers have been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over their alleged involvement in hacking the Malaysian Immigration System (MyIMMs) to unlawfully approve Temporary Employment Visit Passes (PLKS).

According to an insider, the five suspects – four men and one woman aged between their 30s and 40s were picked up around 1pm yesterday after arriving to give their statements at the MACC headquarters here.

To date, anti-graft investigators have recorded statements from 17 individuals to assist in the ongoing probe.

“Preliminary investigations found that all the officers are suspected of colluding to hack the MyIMMs system while also assisting in obtaining approvals for PLKS applications without following the proper procedures.

“Following the arrests, the MACC seized five mobile phones belonging to the suspects,” the source said.

The latest arrest follows an earlier crackdown on July 28, where MACC officers rounded up 12 individuals—including six immigration officers—during a joint multi-agency operation across the Klang Valley and Penang.

That round of arrests involved two company directors, three foreign nationals, and a police officer. Anti-corruption officials also froze bank accounts containing roughly RM300,000 linked to the operation.

MACC Chief Commissioner Abd Halim Aman confirmed the latest arrests when contacted, stating the case is being investigated under Sections 17(a) and 16(a) of the MACC Act 2009.

All suspects are scheduled to be produced at the Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court today for a remand order. – August 4, 2026
