KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will issue asset declaration notices to former human resources minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan, his wife and their three children, requiring them to declare their assets within 30 days.
MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman said the notices, issued under Section 36 of the MACC Act 2009, would be handed over on Monday to Saravanan, his wife and two of their children, Bernama reported.
He added that another child, who is currently overseas, would receive the notice in November.
“They have been informed and will attend the MACC headquarters for the delivery of the notices.
“A period of 30 days (for asset declaration) is given, and if that period is insufficient, an extension will be granted if they apply,” he told reporters after the closing ceremony of the 5th National Level Research Conference on Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corruption 2026, here today.
Saravanan was previously charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court with three counts of allegedly receiving bribes totalling nearly RM1.09 million linked to the approval of 1,000 foreign worker quotas for a company four years ago.
Meanwhile, Abd Halim said the MACC had yet to receive the asset declaration from former Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim and his family.
“We just submitted the notices on Sept 15. Wait for a month,” he said.
The MACC had served asset declaration notices on Abdul Azeez and his family under Section 49 of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001. – September 25, 2026
