Tun Mahathir admitted to IJN for observation: Mokhzani

Tan Sri Mokhzani confirms his father was admitted to IJN for observation following yesterday's passing and state funeral of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah

KUALA LUMPUR – Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) yesterday, his son, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, said.

According to Mokhzani, 101-year-old Dr Mahathir was admitted to IJN for observation.

Mokhzani said there was no cause for concern over his father’s condition, adding that the decision to admit him was made to allow him to be monitored following the passing of his mother, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali.

“He was admitted to IJN for observation. The past two days have been quite stressful for Tun M, but for now, he is okay and there is no cause for concern,” Bernama reported.

Yesterday, Dr Mahathir’s wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, passed away at the National Heart Institute (IJN) at the age of 100.

The late Siti Hasmah was laid to rest at the Heroes’ Mausoleum, Precinct 20, Putrajaya, yesterday afternoon and the burial was accorded the honours of a State Funeral Ceremony. – September 30, 2026
