Budget 2027: Grab, govt to roll out RM160mil aid package for gig workers

KUALA LUMPUR – The government and Grab will jointly fund a RM160 million package from 2027 to improve the net earnings and welfare of e-hailing and p-hailing workers.

Tabling Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat today, Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the package would include measures to increase minimum earnings, provide assistance for vehicle maintenance and insurance, and support contributions to the Social Security Organisation (Socso).

The package is expected to increase the median net monthly income of e-hailing drivers by up to RM227, while p-hailing delivery riders could see their monthly income rise by up to RM100. — October 9, 2026
